Pearl Jam, R.E.M. & More Featured On Abortion Access Benefit Album

Pearl Jam, R.E.M. and many more feature on a new limited-version compilation album that benefits abortion access.

Good Music to Ensure Safe Abortion Access to All, an exclusive to Bandcamp, drops on Friday, October 7, for 24 hours only, according to Billboard.

In addition to Pearl Jam and R.E.M, the mammoth 49-track collection features previously unreleased contributions from the likes of Amanda Shires and Jason Isbell, Death Cab for Cutie, Tegan and Sara, Fleet Foxes, Grouplove, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Mac DeMarco, Maya Hawke, The Regrettes, Soccer Mommy and Wet Leg.

Proceeds from the album will be split between The Brigid Alliance, a service that provides people seeking an abortion with travel, lodging, food, childcare and other logistical support, and the Abortion Care Network through its partnership with the NOISE FOR NOW initiative.

"Every person faced with the choice to keep a pregnancy or not should have access to a safe and legal abortion should they choose one. Their body, their choice," Tegan and Sara said in a statement.

Abortion Care Network communications director Jay Thibodeau noted, "Donating to keep clinics open in every state makes a huge difference to those who need care . It also matters that people who have, provide and support abortion know that they are not alone: most people in the U.S. support the right to abortion, and we are less alone when we can see and join unified, unapologetic calls to liberate abortion."

Epiphone Launches Low-Cost Version Of Tony Iommi's Signature SG Special

Epiphone has launched a low-cost version of Tony Iommi's signature SG Special, a model based on the Black Sabbath legend's "Monkey" guitar.

The guitar, which has a 24.75" scale length, is constructed with a two-piece mahogany body in a Vintage Cherry finish, and a bound, one-piece mahogany neck with a custom, "Iommi C" profile and a 12" radius Indian laurel fretboard fitted with 22 medium-jumbo frets.

The instrument also features a graph tech nut and an adjustable wraparound bridge, and Grover Rotomatic tuners with contemporary buttons, similar to the original "Monkey".

The axe's lean electronics revolve around a pair of twin, chrome-covered Epiphone PRO-90 single coils, each routed to their own tone and volume controls and a 3-way pickup selector switch. With the pickups wired with premium CTS pots and Orange Drop capcitors, it ensures more usable controls and provide a wider range of tones.

The guitar, which has Iommi's signature on the back of its headstock, comes in a hard case, along with a replica of the iconic monkey sticker. The guitar will also be available as a left-handed model.

The guitar is priced at a quite affordable $999, giving guitarists a cheaper alternative to pay tribute to one of rock history's most revered figures.

Judas Priest's Richie Faulkner Reveals He Underwent Second Open Heart Surgery

Judas Priest's Richie Faulkner Reveals He Underwent Second Open Heart Surgery

Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner has revealed that he has undergone a second open heart surgery.

"One year ago today. Less than an hour before my life changed forever," Faulkner revealed on social media. "It's crazy how one minute you're listening to the crowd singing war pigs- everything normal, everything seemingly fine- the next it turns out that it was almost the last time I ever heard it."

The musician also posted a video of the band's 2021 performance at the Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville, Kentucky, during which his aorta ruptured.

Faulkner then explained that his first emergency heart surgery took place that same month, and he experienced few health complications in the year since.

"Just before we toured Europe, scans showed a hole in one of the connections between the synthetic graft and my own aorta that was causing a leak. The blood from the leak was forming an 8cm sack that was surrounding my heart. The doctors were okay for me to tour Europe, but as soon as I got back I had to go under again for another open-heart surgery. So 3 days after we played Belgium, they went in, removed the sack and fixed the leak," he added.

He underwent the second open heart surgery six weeks ago and said that he now feels well and strong.

"Looking forward to seeing you all again on the next leg of the US #50heavymetalyears tour starting in a few weeks," he added.

David Lee Roth Shares New 'Studio Live' Version Of 'Dance The Night Away'

David Lee Roth recently shared a new "studio live" version of the Van Halen classic "Dance The Night Away."

The track was recorded on May 3, 2022 as part of an extremely fast-paced session. The singer was joined for the session by guitarist Al Estrada, bassist Ryan Wheeler and drummer Francis Valentino.

The Roth band went into Henson Recording Studio and recorded 14 songs in two hours.

The track is the fifth solo single the former Van Halen frontman has shared in recent months. In July, Roth released "Pointing at the Moon," a piano/acoustic guitar ballad, and "Nothing Could Have Stopped Us Back Then Anyway," a song about his former band. Earlier, this month Roth dropped "Panama" and "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love".

"Dance the Night Away" was the second song from Van Halen's 1979 album Van Halen II.
