Wolfgang Van Halen, former Van Halen bassist and son of legendary guitarist Eddie Van Halen, has revealed the favorite advice his father gave him.
When asked about the late guitar legend’s advice, Wolfgang told Rock Sverige, “My favorite one – and it´s a bit tongue-in-cheek . was something his dad taught him: ‘If you ever make a mistake, do it twice so that everyone thinks you meant to do it.’”
He also pointed out a rare mistake committed by his father in the Van Halen classic “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love.”
“It’s so part of the song that it doesn’t even seem like a mistake at that point,” Wolfgang said. “It’s like he hit the B string twice by accident instead of hitting the E or something. If you listen to the beginning of it you can hear it.”
Meanwhile, Wolfgang is set to release his solo album Mammoth WVH on June 11 via EX1 Records/ Explorer1 Music Group. He has already released “Feel,” “You’re to Blame,” “Don’t Back Down,” “Think It Over,” and “Distance” from the album.
