The Police Share Christmas-Themed ‘Don’t Stand So Close To Me’ Video

The Police recently released a Christmas-themed video for their 1980 mega-hit “Don’t Stand So Close To Me.”

The band unearthed the previously unreleased footage, which shows the members enjoying a snowy scene, from its archive. The video was filmed in the winter of 1980 in Grey Rock, Quebec, Canada.

“Don’t Stand So Close To Me,” which is from the band’s third album, Zenyatta Mondatta, topped the U.K. Singles Chart in 1980.

The original video saw the band members- Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland – perform in a school setting, dressed as scholars wearing mortarboards in some scenes, whereas the new film sees them meeting Father Christmas and racing on snowmobiles in an appropriately snowy winter scene. The video also features Santas on skis.
