‘Spanish Model’ Earns Elvis Costello First Entry On A Billboard Latin Albums Chart

Spanish Model has become Elvis Costello‘s first album with The Attractions to enter a Billboard Latin Albums Chart.

The 19-track record debuted at No. 6 on the Latin Pop Albums chart dated September 25.

The album is ranked at No. 38 on the overall Top Latin Albums chart, No. 50 on the Top Album Sales chart and No. 32 on the Top Current Album Sales chart.

Spanish Model, a rework of Costello’s 1978 album This Year’s Model, features voices from across Spanish rock music. They include Colombia’s Juanes and Sebastian Yatra, Argentina’s Fito Paez, Chile’s Cami and Puerto Rico’s Luis Fonsi.

“I went into a kind of reverie and imagined replacing my voice with people singing in Spanish. I asked Sebastian if he thought that was a crazy idea. He thought for a moment and said, ‘Yes, it is crazy, let’s do it,’” the Grammy award winning English singer-songwriter told Billboard about the origin of the album.
