Pixies Apologize For ‘Where Is My Mind’ Turning Off Google Alarms

The Pixies have apologized to fans after learning that their iconic 1988 track “Where Is My Mind” from Surfer Rosa was turning off their phone alarms.

The news about the track turning off phone alarms came to light after a Reddit user took to social media on May 1 to explain how the song was causing him to miss his morning alarms.

According to the fan, the start of the song was interfering with an update to Google‘s recent Assistant update, which allowed users to turn off their alarms by saying “stop.”

Interpreting the start of the song that opens with Black Francis saying “stop” as a command from the users, the Assistant was found to be switching off the alarms.

“For the past few months, I could not figure out why on random days, with seemingly no reason, sometimes my alarm would either not go off, or turn itself off very quickly,” wrote the Redditor. “Well this morning, I woke up about 5 minutes before my alarm went off, and I have cracked the code.”

Responding to the article shared by YouTube channel Android Police, the Pixies issued an apology to the Redditor and any other users affected, writing, “Sorry about that!”
