Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ Re-Enters Billboard Hot 100

Michael Jackson‘s “Thriller” has re-entered Billboard‘s all-genre Hot 100 chart during the Halloween season.

The song re-entered at No. 19, marking its highest position since its original chart run in 1984, when it peaked at No. 4.

According to MRC Data, the song earned 12.9 million U.S. streams, up 109%, 8.2 million radio airplay audience impressions, up 275%, and 6,300 downloads sold, up 71%, in the October 29-November 4 tracking week.

“Thriller” was the seventh and final single from Jackson’s sixth studio album of the same name. The song was produced by Quincy Jones and written by Rod Temperton, who wanted to write a theatrical song to suit Jackson’s love of film.

“Thriller” is certified 7x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)

Three other Halloween classics also returned to the Hot 100 chart, including Bobby “Boris” Pickett and The Crypt-Kickers‘ “Monster Mash”, which re-enters at No. 37.

Ray Parker Jr.‘s “Ghostbusters” re-enters the Hot 100 at No. 40, and Rockwell‘s “Somebody’s Watching Me” re-enters at No. 42.
