Iron Maiden Honored With Special Royal Mail Stamp Set

The Royal Mail is honoring Iron Maiden with their own set of British postage stamps celebrating the heavy metal heroes.

The stamps, capturing all current band members performing live, will be available for pre-order from January 12 at https://shop.royalmail.com/special-stamp-issues/iron-maiden.

The 12-stamp collection includes eight stamps featuring pictures from across the band’s four decades of epic live tours and four stamps of their popular mascot Eddie.

Four First Class stamps capture Steve Harris performing in Vancouver in June 2010; Bruce Dickinson performing at Hammersmith Odeon, London, in May 1983; Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Steve Harris performing in Pamplona in September 1988; and Nicko McBrain performing in Quito in March 2009.

Four £1.85 landscape stamps show Dave Murray, Bruce Dickinson and Janick Gers performing in Rio de Janeiro in January 2001; Adrian Smith and Steve Harris performing in Helsinki in May 2018; Iron Maiden performing at Twickenham Stadium, London, in July 2008; and Bruce Dickinson’s sword fight with Eddie in Birmingham in August 2018.

Formed in 1975 by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris, Iron Maiden is considered one of the most influential rock bands of all time. The English heavy metal band sold more than 130 million copies of their albums worldwide and won the Grammy’s and Brit Awards.

The Royal Mail has previously honored four musical acts – the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen and the Rolling Stones – with a stamp issue.
