Foo Fighters Earn 28th Top 10 On Mainstream Rock Airplay Chart, Tying Tom Petty

Foo Fighters have earned their 28th top 10 on the Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, tying Tom Petty for the most songs in the top bracket in the chart’s 40-year history.

Foo Fighters achieved the feat as their “Making a Fire” jumped 15-9 on the survey dated July 17.

“Making a Fire” is the fourth track from the band’s 10th studio album, Medicine at Midnight.

On the Adult Alternative Airplay chart, “Fire” has climbed to No. 15. The song also advanced to No. 29 on Alternative Airplay.

According to MRC Data, the track advanced 16-14 on the audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay tally, logging 2.8 million impressions in the tracking period, up 23%, over the previous week.

The band first made it to the Top 10 of the Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart in 1995, when “This Is a Call” hit No. 6.

Petty accumulated 28 top 10s (including nine from solo albums) between 1981 and 1999.

With 10 No. 1s to their credit, Foo Fighters and Tom Petty rank 6th in the list of acts with the most No. 1s in the chart’s history. Shinedown top the list with sixteen No. 1s.
