First Trailer Released For Little Richard Documentary ‘I Am Everything’

Magnolia Pictures has released the first trailer for an upcoming documentary about Little Richard.

The Lisa Cortes-directed documentary includes interviews with Black and queer scholars as well as Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney and filmmaker John Waters.

Little Richard: I Am Everything tells the story of the life and music of the late radical rock and roll star and his contributions to the queer community.

According to an official synopsis of the documentary, “Little Richard: I Am Everything tells the story of the Black queer origins of rock n’ roll, exploding the whitewashed canon of American pop music to reveal the innovator – the originator – Richard Penniman. Through a wealth of archive and performance that brings us into Richard’s complicated inner world, the film unspools the icon’s life story with all its switchbacks and contradictions.”

Little Richard: I Am Everything premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January.

The docu-film will hit select theaters for a special one-night-only screening on April 11, followed by a wider theatrical release on April 21.
