Elton John’s ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ Debuts Atop U.K. Albums Chart

Elton John‘s new album The Lockdown Sessions has stormed to No. 1 on the U.K. Official Albums Chart.

The Lockdown Sessions debuted on top with 31,000 chart sales, 84 percent of which were physical (CD and vinyl) sales. It marks Elton’s second No. 1 in less than a month. Two weeks ago, his single “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” with Dua Lipa hit No. 1 on the Official Singles Chart.

The album, also featuring Nicki Minaj, Lil Nas X, Miley Cyrus, Stevie Wonder, Stevie Nicks and Brandi Carlile, was released on October 22.

It marks Sir Elton’s eighth No. 1 album and first in nine years in his Official U.K. Chart history.

“When I started collaborating with some of my favourite artists at the start of the pandemic, I couldn’t have dreamt in my wildest dreams it would lead to a Number 1 album,” said the music legend.

“I am so proud of what we have created and thrilled that it has connected with our fans to such a degree,” he told OfficialCharts.com. “It shows the spirit of collaboration and togetherness that can still happen in the most trying circumstances.”
