“Rocket Man” Elton John is scheduled to perform at a special event at the White House on Friday (September 23).
The event, called “A Night When Hope and History Rhyme,” is a collaboration with A&E Networks and The History Channel.
John will be singing on the White House’s South Lawn to an audience of 2,000 invited guests. President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden will be in attendance and are also set to address the audience at the event.
Citing a White House press release, CNN says the performance is meant to “celebrate the unifying and healing power of music, commend the life and work of Sir Elton John, and honor the everyday history-makers in the audience, including teachers, nurses, frontline workers, mental health advocates, students, LGBTQ+ advocates and more.”
The network adds that John and his team reportedly expressed an interest in playing again at the White House.
John had earlier been invited to White House in 1998 by the then President Bill Clinton to perform at a dinner for former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
