Elton John announced on Tuesday (September 7) that he will perform a massive concert at Hyde Park in the U.K. as part of his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour.
The show, which is also part of the British Summer Time festival series, will be held on June 24, 2022.
“I’m going to go out in the biggest possible way, performing at my very best, with the most spectacular production I’ve ever had, playing in places that have meant so much to me throughout my career,” Elton John said while announcing his farewell tour.
He added, “This has been an incredible tour so far, full of the most amazing highs, and I look forward to making more wonderful memories with you at these final shows.”
The tour will mark John’s final ever live dates as revealed at a press conference. “My priorities have changed. We had children and I changed our lives,” he said at the time. “That doesn’t mean to say I’m not going to be creative, but I’m not going to travel.”
Jim King, CEO of European Festivals at AEG Presents, said, “BST Hyde Park has always stood for the world’s biggest and most loved artists bringing not just a performance but a truly one-off and memorable event.”
“Elton John has provided the soundtrack to the lives of so many of us and to know that his last tour is coming to Hyde Park, possibly the last time many of us will ever see him play, is one of the most important and ‘must see’ nights of BST Hyde Park ever,” he added.
