David Byrne Makes Changes To ‘American Utopia’ In Response To Covid Cases

Talking Heads frontman David Byrne has announced a limited run of his Tony Award-winning Broadway show “American Utopia” after the coronavirus pandemic hit his camp.

The first of the revised shows was held at the St. James Theatre on Broadway on Tuesday. Other shows are scheduled for December 30, January 1 and 2.

Byrne said he was forced to scale down the shows after many members of the show team tested positive for Covid.

“Several members of our company, band, and crew-who are fully vaccinated-have tested positive for COVID,” Byrne said in a video posted on Facebook.

“Fortunately, the vaccinated band members and crew who have tested positive don’t have severe symptoms and are staying home following the CDC guidelines,” he added. “Unfortunately, they can’t come to the theatre for the next week or so, which means we’ve chosen to make some creative changes to enable us to put on a show.”
