Bruce Springsteen Sells Music Catalog To Sony For $500 Million

Bruce Springsteen has sold his entire music catalog to Sony Music Group. According to reports, the deal was finalized for $500 million.

Sony Music Group purchased Springsteen’s entire recorded music and songwriting catalogs through two separate agreements, which cover the recorded music and music publishing rights to all of Springsteen’s songs, including “Born to Run,” “Born In The USA” “Dancing in the Dark” “Glory Days,” “The River,” “Hungry Heart,” “Brilliant Disguise” and “I’m On Fire,” among many others.

According to the RIAA, his album catalog has sold 65.5 million in the U.S., which includes his 15-times platinum Born in the U.S.A. and five-times platinum The River.

“I am one artist who can truly say that when I signed with Columbia Records in 1972, I came to the right place. During the last 50 years, the men and women of Sony Music have treated me with the greatest respect as an artist and as a person,” Springsteen said. “I’m thrilled that my legacy will continue to be cared for by the Company and people I know and trust.”

Springsteen is the latest musician to have sold publishing rights in the past couple of years, following icons like Bob Dylan, Stevie Nicks, Neil Young, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, and David Crosby.

Dylan had sold his music to Universal Music Publishing Group for $300 million, while Young’s deal with Hipgnosis Songs Fund was for an estimated $150 million.
