Bob Marley & The Wailers‘ unseen live performance at the Capitol Records Tower in October 1973, which was captured by producer Denny Cordell, is set to be released in multiple formats on September 3 by Tuff Gong and Mercury Studios.
Cordell reportedly set up a four-camera shoot to film the performance, which included songs from 1973’s Burnin’ and 1972’s Catch a Fire.
The footage of the performance was considered lost and remained untraceable for a long time. After a freelance researcher uncovered a few frames, archives and storage units from New York and London to San Diego were tracked down and searched to retrieve fragments of the film. Finally, the film was fully unearthed, restored, and remastered.
Bob Marley And The Wailers: The Capitol Session ’73 will be out on DVD+CD, standalone CD, 2LP pressed on green marble vinyl, 2LP pressed on Rasta swirl vinyl (red, yellow and green – available exclusively at Sound of Vinyl), and digital formats.
