Billy Idol Pulls Out Of Tour With Journey Due To Sinus Infection

Billy Idol has pulled out of the Freedom tour with Journey due to a persistent sinus infection.

“I am absolutely gutted. I haven’t felt like myself since mid-December with a sinus infection that won’t respond to medication. It has worsened to the point where I have no choice but to have a procedure that I expect will put me on a path to recovery soon,” Idol said in a statement.

The English rock star made it clear that he won’t be able to perform the upcoming dates with Journey as planned.

“I wish Journey only the best on their tour and give thanks to TOTO for stepping in for me,” Idol said.

Toto and Billy Idol were originally scheduled to join Journey as special guests during the summer tour.

Toto said that they are looking forward to staging 40 shows with Journey across the U.S.

“Most of the guys are lifelong friends, and it’ll be a pleasure to spend quality time together. Toto will perform the headline appearances planned for February / March at a later date**. Those details will be forthcoming shortly. We all wish Billy the best. Can’t wait to get back out on the road in the coming weeks,” Toto’s Steve Lukather and Joseph Williams added.

Two new dates have been added to the Freedom tour.
