About the KOOL Cause of the Month
For 20 years, KOOL 105 has been your home for Mile High hits. You've let us in to your home and your hearts. You've also supported KOOL and many charitable causes, helping people all over Denver, and for that we thank you! But our work isn't done yet. This web page is a chance for us to increase public awareness of some of our favorite causes and charities around the metro area. So if you have a few extra hours or a few extra dollars and are looking to donate to a reputable charity, you can count on KOOL's Cause of the Month to keep you up to date. Thanks for caring, Denver!
41 Local Charities Are Using the Colfax Marathon to Raise Funds
The Post-News Colorado Colfax Marathon is ready to roll on Sunday, May 18, 2008 with a redesigned course, an exciting charity partners program, and 5,000 athletes of all levels participating in the 26.2 mile marathon, the half-marathon and the 5-person relay.
The Colfax Marathon was founded in 2006 by the cities of Aurora, Denver and Lakewood to shine a spotlight on a beloved and historic street, Colfax Avenue. The marathon has always benefited Colorado Kids, a charity aiming to prevent childhood obesity, but this year, it launched the exciting Charity Partners program. Over 41 charities partnered with the marathon, recruiting runners and volunteers to participate in the event and raise funds -- and awareness -- for their causes.
Charity Partners Program
The Charity Partners Program works like this: The Colorado Colfax Marathon holds the event. We worry about the race, the registration, and spreading the word.
Our Charity Partners recruit runners and volunteers to participate and raise funds for their cause. Each team can set up their own Donation Web Page, so they can e-mail all of their friends and get them to pledge money online – securely and immediately.
“This program works so well in Colorado because it appeals to the kind and giving nature of our athletically fit community,” said Jean Townsend, manager of the Charity Partner program. “We take the worry out of event planning so our charity partners can focus on fundraising and broadening their visibility.”

3. If you’re not a runner but want to participate, we need 1,500 volunteers to make Race Day a success!
4. Finally, you can simply make a donation to your favorite charity and help support their teams.
KOOL Cause of the Month Partners with the Daniels Fund
KOOL 105 is proud to partner with the Daniels Fund for Cause of the Month. Philanthropist Bill Daniels loved America and believed each of us has a duty to offer help and hope to others. He established the Daniels Fund in 1997 to support programs that encourage personal responsibility and achievement. When Bill died in the year 2000, the bulk of his estate transferred to Daniels Fund, making it the largest foundation in the Rocky Mountain Region.
In the Fund's articles of incorporation, Bill directed the foundation to concentrate its efforts in two primary areas: College Scholarships and Community Support, including programs designed to help the homeless, physically handicapped and elderly individuals, as well as those suffering from substance abuse and mental handicaps.
