About the KOOL Cause of the Month
For 20 years, KOOL 105 has been your home for Mile High hits. You've let us in to your home and your hearts. You've also supported KOOL and many charitable causes, helping people all over Denver, and for that we thank you! But our work isn't done yet. This web page is a chance for us to increase public awareness of some of our favorite causes and charities around the metro area. So if you have a few extra hours or a few extra dollars and are looking to donate to a reputable charity, you can count on KOOL's Cause of the Month to keep you up to date. Thanks for caring, Denver!
LOST AND FOUND INC.
For over thirty years, faith-based Lost and Found Inc. has been providing “hope, healing, and a place to grow” for at-risk children, youth, adults and families. Lost and Found Inc. offers a continuum of care, including outpatient/intensive outpatient services for individuals and families, residential treatment for teen boys, residential support for emancipating youth, therapeutic foster and group home placement, holistic/alternative treatments offered through our Center for Health and Healing and holistic mental health services for military, veterans and their families through Operation Restoration.
We specialize in treating kids deemed hard to reach because of their histories of abuse and trauma, and hard to place because of their failures in other settings. The spiritual foundation at Lost and Found Inc. insures that no child, youth, adult or family will be treated as societal refuse. All can achieve hope and healing in body, mind and spirit at Lost and Found Inc.
Youth at Lost and Found Inc. have produced art and poetry which hangs in the Restoration Gallery at the Family Counseling Center. During 2008, “The Art of our Children” will expand the “experiential” therapies of art and poetry into all Lost and Found Inc. populations of children and youth. The art and poetry produced will be mounted into a traveling exhibit which will begin appearing in galleries and other venues in the Denver area, beginning in fall 2008.
HOW YOU CAN HELP...
Operation Restoration, the military outreach program of non-profit Lost and Found Inc. invites all patriots to “Tie One On!” on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 17th from 10 a.m. ‘til 3 p.m. at the Lost and Found Inc. Family Counseling Center, 6700 W. 44th Avenue.
“Tie One On” is a massive effort to make Troop Ties for deployed troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan in the summer heat.
Operation Restoration is a holistic mental health outreach to military/veterans and their families. We specially invite those individuals and other volunteers to bring their scissors, pins, thread, fabric, and sewing machines. The Troops Ties will be sent in care packages by fellow military support non-profit, Homefront Heroes
For more information on Tie One On and needed supplies, call Linda Olson, (303) 420-8080 x1203. For more information on Operation Restoration, click here or call Dr. Mars Robinson, (303) 420-8080 x1162.
We invite individuals, groups, churches, and corporations to partner with us. We’re planning a Lost and Found Inc. night at the Rapids on August 16th, and have preliminary plans for a Remembrance Run/Walk and Rally to benefit Operation Restoration around 9/11 in 2008. Please visit our website, CLICK HERE, to discover how you can bring hope, healing, and offer a place to grow to hurting kids and their families.
KOOL Cause of the Month Partners with the Daniels Fund
KOOL 105 is proud to partner with the Daniels Fund for Cause of the Month. Philanthropist Bill Daniels loved America and believed each of us has a duty to offer help and hope to others. He established the Daniels Fund in 1997 to support programs that encourage personal responsibility and achievement. When Bill died in the year 2000, the bulk of his estate transferred to Daniels Fund, making it the largest foundation in the Rocky Mountain Region.
In the Fund's articles of incorporation, Bill directed the foundation to concentrate its efforts in two primary areas: College Scholarships and Community Support, including programs designed to help the homeless, physically handicapped and elderly individuals, as well as those suffering from substance abuse and mental handicaps.
