Miracle on 34th Street The Musical

Review From KOOL 105's Kelly Randall
If you asked if there is anything better at this time of the season than KOOL 105’s non-stop Christmas music, I would have been hard pressed to find something – that is, until I went to the Arvada Center for their new production of Miracle on 34th St. The Musical.
Wow. Director Gavin Mayer has pulled together a cast and production that must be seen. This show is a must-see for children of all ages. Lauren Shealy is brilliant in the role of Doris Walker. This NYU grad has one of the best “Broadway voices” in Denver and she shines throughout the show.
And talk about talent: Sixth grader Regan Fenske from Highlands Ranch totally rules as Susan Walker. This girl can sing and dance with the best of them. You watch her sophisticated performance and wonder how can a six grade girl be this good? Trust me. She is.
Broadway vet Erick Devine in the lead as Kris Kringle is wonderful . Besides his powerful voice, his great sense of timing, he brings such joy and mirth to the role that Erick is forever Santa to me.
In addition to the wonderful cast, all the technical elements that the Arvada Center is known for come home for these holidays. Brian Mallgrave’s sets are creative and innovative; Vance McKenzie’s lighting and David Thomas’ sound design add to the magic that is the Miracle on 34th St. The Musical.
And did I mention the free parking?
Take the family to a special event this holiday season and go to the Arvada Center’s marvelous production of Miracle on 34th St. The Musical, running now through December 23. For tickets go to www.arvadacenter.org or call 720-898-7200.
