KOOL Cause of The Month

Denver PAL serves over 4000 metro Denver area youth every year with different sports and other activities.  You can find out more about our programs by going to www.denverpal.com, where you can also pay for a scholarship for a kid to play a PAL athletic season for $100.  Denver PAL is also always looking for volunteer coaches, and help running games.  You can contact us via the website as well.

The Jerry Kennedy Denver Police Activities League Headquarters is located at Valverde Park in a struggling neighborhood on the west side of Denver. PAL fields at Parkfield Lake Park at Chambers Road and 53rd Avenue are also part of the organization.  The state-of-the-art facility and athletic fields are used to help connect urban youth with positive coaches who help them understand the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, honest, character, and respect.

Jerry Kennedy was a division chief for the Denver Police and was known and respected for his professionalism and Irish wit. He got to know Bill Daniels while running security at the Denver Coliseum when it served as the venue for matches conducted by Daniels’ “Denver Rocks” boxing club. The two developed a friendship that would last until Daniels’ death in 2000.

When possible, athletic fields will be dedicated in memory of fallen police officers. One of the fields has already been named for Donnie Young, who was shot and killed in an ambush that also left his partner, Officer Jack Bishop, severely wounded.

The Daniels Fund is proud to partner with KOOL105 in recognizing an outstanding nonprofit organization each month as the KOOL Cause of the Month. For more information on the Daniels Fund, please visit www.DanielsFund.org
